The most glamorous island in the Mediterranean and among the most visited in the world, Capri is once in life visit place. The island with its Phlegraean sisters it is part of the Campania Archipelago and has naturalistic, historical, fashion, art, culture, culinary traditions and much more in it.
Capri has also been source of inspiration for numerous poets and film sets. Its fame goes back to the Classical era, with the emperor Tiberius who used to spend his last years of life here. Famous is Monte Tiberio, 334 meters high, also called Salto di Tiberio, meaning Tiberio jump, whose legend tells that the Roman emperor used to kill his unwanted guests by throwing them on this very high cliff. Certain is that from above this mountain you can enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Capri. While the highest point is indeed the Monte Solaro, mountain high 589 m.
Something interesting to know is that Capri originally was not always an island, but integral part with the Sorrento peninsula. Subsequently with the tectonic movements the current Strait of Bocca Piccola was submerged thus becoming the island that we all know today.
By boat you can appreciate the splendid caves such as: the Coral Grotto, the White Grotto, the Green Grotto and the famous Blue Grotto.
Besides it is a must do it, to cross the Faraglioni of the island, which are high pointed cliffs emerged from the sea, a true symbol of Capri.
Finally, for sweeten your stay, you must taste the typical local dessert: the Caprese, in both classic and the lemon version.

If you are looking for fun and social life, surely you must go to the so-called “Piazzetta di Capri”. It is the place of the “dolce vita” in Capri where you can have a good coffee, drink and see the catwalk of world celebrities in total enjoyment. Other attractions are the Garden of Augustus and the Certosa di San Giacomo. Finally, at port the ferries run all day to take you around the island.
Anacapri
It is the largest town on the island and if you are looking for a bit of tranquillity, the Anacrapri area is only 15 minutes away. You can walk among characteristic paths full of flowers and scents, but also reach historic locations on the island such as Casa Rossa, the Church of San Michele and the house of Axel Munthe. From Anacapri you can also walk to the famous Blue Grotto.
